چکیده

This work aims to apply Acoustic Emission monitor the drilling process in carbon fibre laminates. Continuous data is captured over entire of a through hole. The use continuous acoustic emission acquisition allows identification lower frequency periodic temporal features related cutting process. A new approach analysis presented that utilises an enveloping technique study these phenomena and show they correlate changes regime as tool wear advances hole quality reduces. supported by measurement temperature, thrust force assessment quality. Results activity correlated process, correlation between observed. has been confirmed corresponding increases drill with consequent decrease observed

Drilling of carbon fibre reinforced laminates – a study

The distinguishing characteristics of carbon fibre reinforced laminates, like low weight, high strength or stiffness, had resulted in an increase of their use during the last decades. Although parts are normally produced to “near-net” shape, machining operations like drilling are still needed. In result of composites non-homogeneity, this operation can lead to delamination, considered the most ...

Flexural monitoring of carbon fiber/epoxy composite by acoustic emission

Carbon / epoxy composite is one of the most useful polymer matrix composites that has special properties such as high strength-to-weight ratio, high hardness, high corrosion resistance, Resistance to nuclear radiation has high consumption in different industries such as aerospace industry. Therefor monitoring of loading of this type of composite is important. In order to determine failure mecha...

Acoustic emission monitoring of degradation of cross ply laminates.

The scope of this study is to relate the acoustic activity of damage in composites to the failure mechanisms associated with these materials. Cross ply fiber reinforced composites were subjected to tensile loading with recording of their acoustic activity. Acoustic emission (AE) parameters were employed to monitor the transition of the damage mechanism from transverse cracking (mode I) to delam...

study of the effect of machining parameters on drilling of composite materials and monitoring of process by acoustic emission

drilling is one of the main machining processes carried out in the assembly stage of automobile manufacturing and aerospace components. generally, delamination is considered as a major problem during drilling of composite materials. in this paper, the effects of feed rate, cutting speed and drill point angle on thrust force and delamination factor have been studied by using full factorial desig...

Acoustic emission in drilling carbon steel and nodular gray iron

Purpose: of this paper is to investigate tool wear monitoring of drilling process by acoustic emission (AE). Design/methodology/approach: of tool wear monitoring in drilling acquires the AE signal and analyses it in the frequency domain. Findings: Tool wear in drilling significantly influences the AE signal independently of the measuring method. This influence is evidently different for various...
